Welcome to Kayla's Meal Prep Monday!!

Hello,

My name is Kayla. I am a personal trainer and wanna be foodie on the side. Oh who am I kidding? I am a foodie. I take more pictures of my food than anything else. Haha. I am an ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer, NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and recently certified as a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Health Coach! I also have a degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Frostburg State Univeristy in Maryland. Enough about me, and thank you for visiting my site.

Kayla's Meal Prep Monday is my personal meal prep for each week that I consume and share with you all. For those who might not be familiar with what meal prep is, let me explain at least how I meal prep for myself. I plan out for 4 weeks at a time. I create 8 recipes that I want to make for those 4 weeks and then I go grocery shopping once a month accordingly to the recipes ingredients. I have been preparing my meals like this for the past 3 years. I have found that meal prep is life and that I would not eat otherwise. I have found that I am that lazy person, in which going to get fast food is too far out of my way and that I would rather just go home, where I know that food is already made and waiting for me to eat it. All I have to do is heat it up. It makes my life so much easier. This way of preparing meals has also helped save me money. I am able to spend less than $200 a month on groceries for myself. That includes breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and healthy snacks. *Jaw dropping, isn't is. Haha Well you can do that too. I usually cook my meals for the week on Sundays. I used to prep on Monday's way back when, and then life changes. It takes me 2-4 hours to cook for the whole week, that includes prep, cook time and clean up. I pre-portion out 5-6 meals for the week and I place them in the refrigerator and then they are ready to grab and go when I need them.

Not all meal prep has to be the same as I do it, I find this way is so much easier for me and my lifestyle. There are other ways in which you can prep your meals for the week. You can prepare large amounts of veggies and meats and place them in separate containers and serve as needed. You can also cook two times a week or however many times a week that is necessary for you and your family and your lifestyle. This is just how I do it for myself and it works for me.
