Healthier Ways to Reward Yourself for Reaching Your Goals.

How many of you have rewarded your healthy habits with un-healthy ones? Like, “Yay, I made it to the gym 3 times this week! I met my goals, I’m going to go to Dunkin Donuts and get me a donut.” Well--- folks, I like the idea of giving yourself a pat on the back for all your hard work in which you’ve demonstrated towards your health and fitness goals… we are on the right track and yet still slightly miss lead. Rewarding ourselves along this health and fitness journey in which we have started is a great way to keep us motivated and wanting to continue to move forward. The way in which we reward ourselves also can either help us or hurt us. The example I gave at the top… THAT’S BAD! This type of behavior won’t help us make healthier choices for the long run. It only makes our healthy behavior seem like a chore and something that we have to tolerate in order to be rewarded with a sweet treat. So, because I am so awesome and wonderful and I want to see all of you succeed, I am going to share with you some better ideas for ways in which you can and should reward yourself for all the hard work you’ve done these last few months!

Some healthier ways to reward yourself for reaching goals along your health and fitness journey could be to schedule some much needed “you” time. During that “you” time, you could indulge yourself in some pampering. Get a massage to relax your stressed and sore muscles. While you’re at it, grab some new bath salts and bath bombs for later. Even better, get your nails done! Gurllll you deserve it. haha

You could also do something fun and different, gift yourself a new experience. Go to a new park and take a walk, go to a museum you’ve never gone too before or try a new workout style or class. An app that I absolutely love for this kind of stuff is Groupon. They have some awesome date night and or “you” time night stuff in there for cheap(er). Check them out. You could also buy something that is going to continue to enhance your journey. For example; new running shoes or a new kitchen gadget to help you maintain your healthy eating habits. Another suggestion could be to do something you couldn’t do before you started this journey; like run a certain distance without stopping! How exciting does that feel?!? Last but definitely not the last or least suggestion you could do for yourself is to splurge on a mini-luxury service. Like having someone cook or clean your house for you. After all…. Honey… you earned it.

So celebrate those lil or large milestones along your health and fitness journey! This is a rough road that you’re on, and you need to remind yourself in which the gainz you’ve made. With that being said, remember that in your celebratory haze… make sure it is always encouraging you to continue this journey and be the best versions of yourself! You got this gurl or dude!
