Meal Prep Hacks: 101

Hello Fabulous Anytime Fitness Fam!!!

Ok, so I know a lot of you out there might feel as though you still do not have enough time in your day or week to meal prep. This week I hope to help those of you out with some meal prep hacks. Sorry, my tips do not include anything like the picture to the right. Even though this is super funny and I give props for at least trying, and hey… portion control. My tips are going to allow you to stay on track and help you reach your goals while still making it easier for you and your family to eat healthy in less time.

Meal prep doesn’t have to be difficult; it can actually be a lot easier than what you might think. Some fast and easy meal prep hacks that you can do to save you time in the kitchen start at the grocery store. I know that a lot of grocery stores now offer pre-sliced veggies in their produce section, stock up on those for quick and easy fajita toppings and or salad toppings. (Obviously those aren’t the only things you can get and use that for… just suggestions.) Most grocery stores also offer hot foods; already made and cooked Rotisserie chickens are an easy meal prep hack for busy families. Frozen veggies and steamer bags of veggies are also a great meal prep hack, quick and easy, no chopping or cutting.

Some fast and easy meal prep hacks that you can do at home are to make quick and easy “set it and forget it,” crock pot meals. You can also pre make and freeze foods that will go into the crock pot and you can pull those out when in a crunch. All in one, sheet pan meals are also another great way to cook your meats and veggies at one time. Here are some other quick and simple meal prep hacks you can do at home to save time:

  • You can also use foil as dividers on a baking sheet and season your meats a couple different ways that way you can change up the flavor for different meals throughout the week, that are ready to grab and go.

  • Hard-boil eggs in the oven instead of in a pot. Simply use a muffin tin and bake for 30 min.

  • Freeze blended smoothies in muffin tins.

  • Pre-portion out overnight oats and or oatmeal in jars with desired toppings like fresh or frozen fruit.

  • Pre-assemble smoothie ingredients in bags and freeze

  • Make breakfast frittatas with muffin tins

  • Form an assembly line, have your meal prep containers ready before you start cooking.

  • Cook for the whole week at once
